Benin’s Construction Boom Drives Higher Demand for Wire Rod: Quality Materials Support Rebar Binding and Welded Mesh Production
Benin’s Construction Boom Drives Higher Demand for Wire Rod: Quality Materials Support Rebar Binding and Welded Mesh Production

Benin is experiencing fast-paced urbanization, with large numbers of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects under construction. Wire rod is widely required for rebar tying, welded mesh, hooks, and various small steel components. However, many local workshops suffer from quality issues such as inconsistent tensile strength, surface impurities, and wire breakage during drawing.
Our customer, a welded-mesh manufacturer in Cotonou, required reliable wire rod to support continuous production for both construction and hardware markets. They needed stable mechanical properties and smooth surface finishing to reduce breakage during cold drawing.
We supplied 4×40HQ containers of Wire Rod in 5.5 mm, 6 mm, and 8 mm diameters, each batch undergoing tensile-strength testing and controlled surface treatment to ensure uniformity.
After processing, the customer reported:
Smooth drawing with no wire snapping
Clean straightening with minimal rebound
Strong welding performance at each mesh point
Consistent final mesh dimensions and appearance
Thanks to the improved stability, the customer successfully secured contracts for two large-scale residential projects. Production efficiency rose significantly, and defect rates fell, enabling them to compete more effectively in the local construction materials market.
